Lived Experience Leadership Project
We believe disabled people belong in leadership roles. We work with disabled people to use their experiences to lead and make the world a more equal place.
In 2019, Inclusion Scotland received funding from the Big Lottery Fund (now National Lottery Community Fund) Lived Experience Pilot fund to run a year-long pilot project on developing lived experience leadership.
Inclusion Scotland recruited 9 participants from different backgrounds to pilot a Lived Experience Leadership Programme. The participants all had lived experience of being disabled and wanted to use their lived experience in leadership roles.
The participants tested out various opportunities which included coaching, shadowing, training courses, a learning group and peer support sessions.

The Highland Project
As a fixed term project funded by the Scottish Government from October 2016 to September 2021, the Highland Project set out to increase the civic participation of disabled people in the Scottish Highlands. First establishing the Disability Highland Community of Practice then holding themed Annual Summits, it brought together disabled people, allies and decision makers who we worked with to launch a Highland pan-impairment DPO called HighAbility.

Independent Living in Scotland Project
From 2012 to 2017, Inclusion Scotland hosted the Independent Living in Scotland project.
