Host a Disabled Intern – Support, Learn, Grow

Inclusion Scotland is inviting employers to take part in our Employment and Internship Programme. This programme is a national initiative that opens doors for disabled people while helping organisations build confidence, skills, and capacity around inclusive employment.

About the Programme

Since 2014, our programme has supported more than 150 disabled people into paid, project based internships across Scotland. Each placement is designed to give interns meaningful experience while offering employers the chance to bring fresh talent into their teams.

Organisations that join the programme receive practical, hands on guidance at every stage. Our team supports employers to frame clear and inclusive job descriptions, advertise roles through the right channels, run accessible interviews, and put effective workplace adjustments in place. We stay involved throughout the internship to ensure both the intern and the organisation get the most out of the experience.

To make participation as flexible as possible, we offer a range of internship models including fully funded, partially funded, government backed, and private sector options. This means employers of all sizes, from small charities to major public bodies, can take part.

Get Involved

Applications are now open for organisations interested in hosting a disabled intern next year. Whether you are new to inclusive recruitment or already building on existing work, the programme is a practical way to strengthen your approach and contribute to a more inclusive Scotland.
