Scottish Parliament debate on the National Care Service Bill

Today, the Scottish Parliament will be debating Stage One of the National Care Service (Scotland) Bill.  This Bill will allow community health and social care support responsibility to be jointly shared between local authorities and the Scottish Government, under the auspices of a new National Care Service.

At Inclusion Scotland, we wish to emphasize that disabled people recognise the present system is broken and does not provide the support we need to be equal citizens of Scotland. We want a National Care Service, which is planned and delivered around our lived experience of social care support, as well as our human rights, including Independent Living.

Through the passing of this Bill, we will be supporting social care support reform, based on the above, throughout Scotland
