How to Take Part in Disabled People’s Question Time – In Person or Online
Disabled People’s Question Time is an accessible hustings event organised by Inclusion Scotland ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections. The event is designed to ensure disabled people can directly question candidates and hear where they stand on the issues that matter most to disabled people in Scotland. Whether you prefer to attend in person or join online, there are multiple ways to take part.
Taking part in person
Disabled People’s Question Time will take place at The Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, with access and inclusion at the centre of the event design. Attending in person gives disabled people the opportunity to be in the room with Scottish Parliament candidates, hear their responses first-hand and be part of a collective space led by disabled people.
The in-person event will include a range of access measures to support participation. These include step-free access, accessible toilets, microphones, hearing loop systems and a quiet space. Captions and BSL will be available. Inclusion Scotland is committed to working with attendees to meet individual access requirements wherever possible.
If you are attending in person, you will be able to speak to us about your specific access needs in advance.
Reasonable travel expenses will also be reimbursed. Please keep your receipts and bring them with you on the day to allow us to process these expenses.
Taking part online
For those who cannot attend in person, Disabled People’s Question Time will also be available to join online. This option is particularly important for disabled people who face barriers related to travel, health, caring responsibilities or energy levels.
The online option allows participants to watch the event live. Online access arrangements will be designed to be as inclusive as possible and may include live captioning, British Sign Language interpretation and clear audio. Joining online ensures that disabled people across Scotland can take part, regardless of location.
Submitting questions
Disabled People’s Question Time will feature questions based on Inclusion Scotland’s manifesto asks. These asks have been developed through engagement with disabled people and reflect key priorities for change at Holyrood.
You can submit questions via our online form after signing up for the event. One question relating to each manifesto ask will be chosen in advance of the event and you will be notified if your question has been selected. There will also be an opportunity for live questions from those taking part in person.
