Submitting Your Question: What Do You Want Politicians to Answer?

Disabled People’s Question Time is about shifting who sets the agenda in Scottish politics. Ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections, Inclusion Scotland is creating a space where disabled people can directly question candidates and demand clear answers on the issues that affect their lives. Submitting a question is one of the most powerful ways to take part.

Too often, disabled people are talked about rather than listened to. Political debates can feel disconnected from lived experience, with vague commitments replacing meaningful action. Disabled People’s Question Time is designed to challenge this by grounding discussion in what disabled people in Scotland actually want politicians to address.

What kind of questions are being asked?

The event will feature core questions drawn from Inclusion Scotland’s manifesto asks. These asks have been developed through engagement with disabled people and reflect key priorities for change at the Scottish Parliament. They focus on rights, access and equality, rather than individual circumstances or one-off fixes.

When you submit a question, you are contributing to shaping how those manifesto asks are presented to candidates. Your input will help to ensure that the questions put to politicians reflect real concerns and real experiences, from accessing support to live independently, to tackling poverty, discrimination and barriers to participation.

Why manifesto ask based questions matter

Using manifesto asks as the basis for questions ensures that Disabled People’s Question Time is focused, fair and accountable. All candidates are asked to respond to the same questions, making it easier for disabled people to compare positions across parties and assess who is committed to delivering change in Scotland.

This approach also keeps the conversation at a strategic level. Rather than allowing politicians to avoid difficult topics or rely on general statements, the questions are designed to prompt clear commitments and explanations of policy direction. This is especially important in the context of the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections, where decisions made at Holyrood will shape disabled people’s lives for years to come.

How your experience shapes the questions

Your lived experience as a disabled person is your expertise. Whether your concerns relate to social care, transport, housing, employment, health, education or participation in public life, your perspective helps ensure that the questions reflect the realities disabled people face in Scotland.

Submitted questions will help inform how Inclusion Scotland frames the questions used at the event. This process ensures that Disabled People’s Question Time remains rooted in disabled people’s priorities, not political convenience.

Making your voice heard

Submitting a question is one way of taking part, whether you plan to attend the event in person, join online, or watch from elsewhere. Even if your question is not used on the night, your contribution helps shape the discussion and strengthens disabled people’s collective voice.

Have your say by submitting a question for Inclusion Scotland’s Disabled People’s Question Time. Help shape the questions put to Scottish Parliament candidates and ensure disabled people’s priorities are heard ahead of the 2026 elections.
