Our 2016 "Manifesto for Inclusion"

Inclusion Scotland have developed our Manifesto for Inclusion for the Scottish Parliament elections 2016. Developed together with our disabled members, the Manifesto for Inclusion contains 5 asks of Scotland’s political parties and candidates to make Scotland a fairer and more democratic place for disabled people to live.

Using Inclusion Scotland's Manifesto for Inclusion at the Scottish Parliament elections 2016

Our Manifesto for Inclusion and easy read Manifesto  – with its 5 asks of Scottish political parties – is for disabled people and our allies to use when considering the different manifestos of the different Scottish political parties. The documents can also be used when meeting with local or regional candidates, whether that be on the doorstop or at organised ‘hustings’ events. These are great opportunities to ask about the things you feel are important, and this manifesto aims to help inform disabled people to do just that.

Our members, disabled people and their organisations, made suggestions that could help transform Scottish society and make it more inclusive. This Manifesto for Inclusion, and the easy read Manifesto for Inclusion, sets out their ideas and provides some background facts and figures.

The manifesto is backed up by five individual briefings which contain a bit more detail. These are available alongside the Manifesto for Inclusion and the easy read version.

Inclusion Scotland are also planning three Disability Question Time ‘hustings’ events in different areas of Scotland.  If you live in Dumfries and Galloway, Highlands and Islands or City of Edinburgh, check out the details of these events below the manifesto documents. These events are a great opportunity to question the main parliamentary parties on their plans for disabled people should they be elected.

Disability Question Time events

Question Time

We are holding three Disability Question Time events so that disabled people can question the main Scottish parliamentary parties on their plans after the election. These will take place in Dumfries (Thursday, 14th April), Inverness (Thursday, 21st April) and Edinburgh (Thursday 28th April). Please see the flyers attached below for further details and how to let us know if you have any reasonable adjustments to allow you to attend.

Our Disability Question Time events are a great opportunity for disabled people to ask candidates about issues most important to you, and for candidates to set out how they intend to address those issues if they were to win the election.
