Hi, I’m Jade. I bring over 25 years of lived experience to my role at Inclusion Scotland. As a full-time wheelchair user, born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, I have dedicated my life to championing inclusion, choice, and independence for disabled people across Scotland.
My journey has been shaped by resilience and passion. I’ve spent eight years as a violinist with the South Lanarkshire Orchestral Society and six years competing in wheelchair tennis for Scotland, sharing courts with world-class athletes including Andy Murray and Paralympians.
Beyond sport and music, I’ve faced significant health challenges, including four years on dialysis before receiving a kidney transplant. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the importance of accessible healthcare and self-advocacy.
For the past 12 years, I’ve directed my own care through Option 1 Self-Directed Support, ensuring my needs and outcomes are met with flexibility and control. As Secretary of the Self-Directed Support Network South Lanarkshire, I actively promote choice, control, and empowerment for supported individuals and carers.
At Inclusion Scotland, I am committed to using my lived experience to influence policy, break down barriers, and create a Scotland where disabled people have equal opportunities to thrive.
