Disabled people are often on the front line of climate change, yet our voices are rarely included in climate policy and planning. Extreme weather, energy insecurity, service disruption and inaccessible emergency responses disproportionately affect disabled people, increasing risk and inequality.
Inclusion Scotland has gathered evidence on the impacts of climate change on disabled people and engaged disabled people directly on climate justice and climate resilience planning. We have delivered events on inclusive climate emergency planning and work in partnership with the Environmental Rights Centre Scotland and the UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) funded Sensing Climate project.
We are in the early stages of exploring a disabled-led climate network to ensure disabled people shape fair, accessible and effective climate action in Scotland.
