    Join us in calling for stronger human rights law for disabled people

    Sign a joint statement calling for the full and direct incorporation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People (CRPD) into Scots law.

    We invite individuals and organisations working for equality and human rights for disabled people across all communities to join us by signing up now to the joint statement and promoting this opportunity to your wider networks.

    The CRPD is an important international treaty that – if properly embedded in Scottish legislation – will ensure that disabled people can enjoy their human rights and that they are enforceable.

    We know that the rights disabled people currently have do not equate to rights in practice. The accumulative impacts of Brexit and Covid-19 have brought decades of injustice, exclusion and invisibility into sharp focus.

    The way to change this is with full and direct incorporation of the CRPD – a recent report published by the ALLIANCE and Inclusion Scotland demonstrates how this is possible.

    The Joint Statement calls on the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government to deliver the full and direct incorporation of the CRPD during the 2021-2026 parliamentary term. Once complete, the joint statement will be widely disseminated to members of both bodies and other senior decision makers.

    Delay is not an option. The time for action is now!
