The Ability Postproduction Academy is a Glasgow based training organisation that teaches professional video and film post-production skills. It specialises in helping people develop careers in content creation, film and television editing, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and inclusion. Its offer training in professional editing software including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. It delivers individual and group training remotely and face-to-face. Industry clients include BBC, ITV (Emmerdale and Coronation Street teams), the National Film and Television School, Northern Film School and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Internship overview:

We are looking for a motivated and creative Junior Video Editor to join us as a paid intern. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in post-production who wants to develop practical editing skills and web design skills while working on a variety of  other projects. You will work alongside experienced editors and trainers, gaining valuable experience and building a professional portfolio.

Main duties and tasks

Your role will include:

– Editing video content for the Ability Academy’s social media platforms and website, promotional campaigns and educational materials.

– Producing / video editing content for the Ability Academy’s website.

– Organising and managing video footage and project files.

– Adding graphics, titles, captions, and basic motion graphics to content.

– Source and edit music and sound effects.

– Perform basic colour correction and audio balancing.

– Help maintain an organized media library and editing workflow.

– Support the team with post-production tasks.

Person Specification

Essential skills and experience:

– An interest in video editing and accessibility technology.

– Good planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, with appropriate support.

– Good IT skills with the ability to use Word, and Word Press (desirable)

– Basic experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer.

– An interest in and understanding of disabled access, inclusion and equality – or be willing to learn.
