Inclusion Scotland and People-led Policy Panel (PLPP) submissions to the Scottish Government’s Independent Review of Adult Social Care Support.

By Lynne Wham | News | Comments are Closed | 12 January, 2021 | 4

Inclusion Scotland and the People-Led Policy Panel have made written submissions to the Independent Review of Adult Social Care Support.

In September 2020 the First Minister announced that there would be an Independent Review of Adult Social Care Support.  This Review is chaired by Derek Feeley, former Chief Executive of NHS Scotland.  Mr Feeley is also supported by an Advisory Panel.

The Review is due to report back at the end of January 2021. Inclusion Scotland has been campaigning in this area for many years, highlighting over and over the fundamental problems with the current system.  The PLPP have also been working hard over the last 3 years co-producing the reform of adult social care support.

We hope that the recommendations of the Review will be the beginning of building a new national Social Care Support system based on human rights and equal citizenship. The current system is broken and coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic the lives of disabled people are now even more at risk. There is no more time to waste.
