One in five Scots identify as disabled, but only 1 MSP in the current Scottish Parliament defines themselves as disabled. A representative Scottish Parliament would have about 26 disabled MSPs.
Disabled people face many barriers to participation in politics, and running for elected office. We need to decrease these barriers so that disabled people are have greater representation in Parliament and local councils, ensuring our voices are heard and that our lived experience permeates the policies and structures that govern us.
