We at Inclusion Scotland and the ALLIANCE have issued a call for expressions of interest for some legal scoping work.
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is not currently incorporated into Scots law. Both Inclusion Scotland and the ALLIANCE have expressed our support for incorporation of the CRPD and other international human rights treaties as a means to ensure that people’s rights are respected, protected and fulfilled.
We wish to jointly commission legal scoping work to identify and compare benefits of and models for incorporation, to be completed by September 2020. The work will provide us, and the ALLIANCE, with intelligence and weighted considerations relevant to Scotland and contribute towards several aims, including identifying which models of incorporation could be most beneficial, and help us inform and influence decision and policy makers.
The deadline for completed Expressions Of Interests (with accompanying CV) is Friday 10 July 2020. More details about the scope of the work, framing questions, report format and other considerations can be found in the Call for Expressions Of Interests document below.
